The information age ...

The internet, a world of information at your finger tips. But in this information age, some would agree that there is far too much information out there, not all of it relevant.

So, how do we separate the wheat from the chaff?

Well the great thing is, we don't! These days there are trusted websites that do it all for you. For example, in the venue finding industry there are quite a few sites that have popped up over the last few years that can find party venues and function rooms in your area.

Why use a service when I can just Google it?

This brings me back to my first point. There is so much information - 4,570,000 results for "party venues" and 4,670,000 results for "function rooms" in Google at the time of writing!

Now, I am only need to find one good site to secure a venue, but am faced with two issues.

  • There are so many low quality and irrelevant websites that come up for these words.
  • How reliable is the information. Most venues get a website setup and then never update it! You then find out when you arrive that time hasn't been kind on the function room and that the pictures on their website were possibly taken over 10 years ago.

Another option is you can vary the search terms in the search engine to get better result, such as "melbourne function rooms" or "21st birthday party venues".

Or you could use one of the many great venue finding service available. Venue finding services can recommend venues based on your party specifications. This can be a good alternative to searching through venue listings as you can cut out a heap of venues in one foul swoop just by filling in a form.

They usually send back a short list of venues that they recommend on your specifications.

Who polices the police?

There are so many great venue finding services in Australia, however, some are merely wolves in sheep clothing.

I have seen some "supposed" venue finder sites that recommend venues that they are affiliated with. The site is merely a front to get extra business to their venues. If they only offer one or two venues as options chances are they come directly from the venues themselves.

Be alert as not to be tricked. You can always do an ABN or ACN search to see if the venue finding service comes up as the venue business name.

Luckily there are sites that list only 100% free Australian venue finding services. Below is a list by occasion to get you started.
