Increase backlinks with dofollow sites
78What are nofollow tags?
Years ago in an effort to stop spammers, code was introduced to stop search engines rewarding for spam comments on blogs. Nofollow tags can normally be found in the source code of a blog looking like this: rel='external nofollow' or rel=' nofollow'.
What does this mean? Well, essentially nothing. The links still count as backlinks, however Google pagerank is not carried across.
The good news for people out there with new websites, is that are plenty of sources online that don't use these tags in their code.
In this hub, I hope to highlight some of the sites and types of sites that can be a great source for you to obtain Google pagerank in the shortest time possible.
Google Pagerank 101
Pagerank isn't obtained overnight. Google usually updates pagerank to websites typically every 3 to 6 or so months.
So in order to achieve a high Google pagerank, you need to link your website to as many sites that don't use the nofollow tags in the source code.
This website shows the last date that Google ran a pagerank update. At least six months from this date will be the next update, so read on and make the changes that will catapult your websites pagerank.
Website Domain Value is a website I have been using to determine the pagerank of certain sites to test the waters to see if linking on them is a viable option. There are plenty of other sites and plugins that can do this, but I find this site provides me with a more in-depth analysis of particular websites, such as where the website is hosted.
This can be good to know as if I am building links for an Australian website, I often like to find a lot of Australian backlinks. Where the site is hosted can play a small part in the complex Google algorithm.
Finding premium dofollow backlinks
There is a fantastic plugin for those who use Mozilla Firefox. For those that don't I highly recommend downloading it, even if it is just to take advantage of this fantastic plugin.
With this great plugin you can search for and leave comments on some powerful pageranked blogs.
How it works is you right click on the page you want to check and select the NoDofollow option.
The page will the automagically highlight any links saving you valuable time as you will not need to look through the source code.
Blue = Dofollow
Pink = NoDofollow
If comments on a particular blog are highlighted in blue, then they are great place to leave a link in the form of a comment.
Don't be a spammer!
How would you feel if someone wrote a completely irrelevant comment on your blog with obvious linking attempts?
This doesn't need to be done. Contribute with a valuable comment on the blog post.
Most blogs allow you to fill in your name, website and comment. Don't try to sneak links in the comment section. This can be seen as spam.
Tip: If you put your keyword in a comment, Google will associate your site with this word and you may receive a higher ranking for this word in Google. Downside: The blog owner may see it as spam, so only do this if the blog automatically approves comments.
Social Bookmarking Sites
Most of the popular social bookmarking sites such as Digg and Delicious use nofollow tags, but you would be surprised to find there are many high pagerank sites that dofollow. My favorite is Folkd - a site hosted in Germany with an impressive pagerank of 6!
Below is a list of Dofollow Social Bookmarking site. Some have low pagerank but backlinking is a long term process. Sites that have low pagerank today may have a good pagerank in Google's next cycle? So the more backlinks the merrier!

Keep up the good work.

Great post.
Free backlinks can be awesome at improving your page rank. It's always better to submit custom backlinks rather than pay for automated ones.

Good information, well written and concise. Squidoo and Hubpages - I'm pretty sure!
With HP it's a double whammy as you can get link-love in the comments as well if you log out...it's a risk though as you may not get approved, and you need to make sure the Hubber has a score over 75.
